Try it! If you want your business to thrive in this advancing digital world then you must come up with new ideas. Miles Abraham, speaker at the Caribbean Internet Market Summit held at Crowne Plaza on June 26, takes this position. “Try cool things. Come up with cool ideas,” he said. Abraham told the participants to prepare for change as he predicts that by the end of this year more than 40 per cent of T&T will have access to the Internet. A digital strategist, Abraham said in 2006, 10 per cent of T&T citizens had Internet access.
“Technology is moving ahead so quickly,” he said. He shared many videos where companies used the popular Youtube network to advertise their products.

Also, one of the videos he shared from another source, predicted that by the year 2020, social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube will become the main media of advertising. Abraham said, “A phenomenon is just an idea that nobody owns as yet.” Participants also shared concerns that many Web sites in T&T do not allow interaction, such as comments and questions about their products. Inspirational speaker, Dr Ken Onu shared simple tips for people to achieve their goals. Two of them were to believe in one’s self and know what one wants. “The enemy of focus is having too many choices,” he said. The Summit ends tomorrow.

Banking

This was first published in the British humour magazine "Punch" on
April 3, 1957:  I found it hilarious and at the same time food for thought….

Q: What are banks for?
A: To make money.

Q: For the customers?
A: For the banks.

Q: Why doesn't bank advertising mention this?
A: It would not be in good taste. But it is mentioned by implication in references to reserves of $249,000,000,000 or thereabouts. That is the money they have made.

Q: Out of the customers?
A: I suppose so.

Q: They also mention Assets of $500,000,000,000 or thereabouts. Have they made that too?
A: Not exactly. That is the money they use to make money.

Q: I see. And they keep it in a safe somewhere?
A: Not at all. They lend it to customers.

Q: Then they haven't got it?
A: No.

Q: Then how is it Assets?
A: They maintain that it would be if they got it back.

Q: But they must have some money in a safe somewhere?
A: Yes, usually $500,000,000,000 or thereabouts. This is called Liabilities.

Q: But if they've got it, how can they be liable for it?
A: Because it isn't theirs.

Q: Then why do they have it?
A: It has been lent to them by customers.

Q: You mean customers lend banks money?
A: In effect. They put money into their accounts, so it is really lent to the banks.

Q: And what do the banks do with it?
A: Lend it to other customers.

Q: But you said that money they lent to other people was Assets?
A: Yes.

Q: Then Assets and Liabilities must be the same thing?
A: You can't really say that.

Q: But you've just said it! If I put $100 into my account the bank is liable to have to pay it back, so it's Liabilities. But they go and lend it to someone else, and he is liable to have to pay it back, so it's Assets. It's the same $100 isn't it?
A: Yes, but….

Q: Then it cancels out. It means, doesn't it, that banks haven't really any money at all?
A: Theoretically……

Q: Never mind theoretically! And if they haven't any money, where do they get their Reserves of $249,000,000,000 or thereabouts??
A: I told you. That is the money they have made.

Q: How?
A: Well, when they lend your $100 to someone they charge him interest.

Q: How much?
A: It depends on the Bank Rate. Say five and a-half percent. That's their profit.

Q: Why isn't it my profit? Isn't it my money?
A: It's the theory of banking practice that………

Q: When I lend them my $100 why don't I charge them interest?
A: You do.

Q: You don't say. How much?
A: It depends on the Bank Rate. Say a half percent.

Q: Grasping of me, rather?
A: But that's only if you're not going to draw the money out again.

Q: But of course I'm going to draw the money out again! If I hadn't wanted to draw it out again I could have buried it in the garden!
A: They wouldn't like you to draw it out again.

Q: Why not? If I keep it there you say it's a Liability. Wouldn't they be glad if I reduced their Liabilities by removing it?
A: No. Because if you remove it they can't lend it to anyone else.

Q: But if I wanted to remove it they'd have to let me?
A: Certainly.

Q: But suppose they've already lent it to another customer?
A: Then they'll let you have some other customers money.

Q: But suppose he wants his too….and they've already let me have it?
A: You're being purposely obtuse.

Q: I think I'm being acute. What if everyone wanted their money all at once?
A: It's the theory of banking practice that they never would.

Q: So what banks bank on, is not having to meet their commitments?
A: I wouldn't say that.

Q: Naturally. Well, if there's nothing else you think you can tell me….?
A: Quite so. Now you can go off and open a banking account!

Q: Just one last question.
A: Of course.

Q: Wouldn't I do better to go off and open up a bank?

What Is Reality?

Perceiving is Believing. Misperceiving is Deceiving. I enjoyed this video. Hope you do too

How Big Is Your Fish Bowl?

This is one of the great wonders of the world.

If you were to take a goldfish out of a fishbowl in your home and let it go free in a big pond or lake, you would be very surprised to see that the goldfish would continue to swim in a small circle roughly the size of your fish bowl at home.

Now, why is it so, you may ask?

Because, while in the fishbowl, whenever the goldfish tried to swim further, it would bump into the glass.

After doing this for so many times it would invariably give up trying to swim further.

The goldfish now believes that this is how it has always been and that it is not possible for it to be any other way.

This has now become the belief of the goldfish.

We human beings are no different.  Our beliefs have become so ingrained in us that we decide in our subconscious mind that something is not possible and of course that is what becomes our reality.

Questioning our beliefs means that we have to question our own limitations.

If they serve us then all is fine and if they don’t serve us then it is time to replace them with beliefs that do.

Some of the biggest ” popular beliefs” out there is that it is very difficult to make money, It is very

difficult to get out of debt, we need money to make money, it’s so difficult to be successful in a recession or that the challenges we have are too difficult to surmount.

We’re still thinking like the goldfish even though we are free.

Bob Marley says ” Emancipate yourself from mental slavery”.

Look at your hands -do you see any shackles?  Look at your feet are they tied together?

What is holding you back?  Your limiting beliefs of course.  Your limitations are set by your beliefs.

Most people want to know: ” How can one tell for sure if what one believes is true or not?”.

The question to ask is really simple:

1.  How does this belief serve me?

2.  Is this belief moving me towards my dreams and aspirations?

3.  Or is this belief moving me away from my dreams and aspirations?

There is a Turkish proverb that paraphrased says : if you are on the wrong road turn back.

Here is this week’s to do list:

Look at the three questions above and ask yourself:

Is what I am thinking and feeling moving me towards or away from my dreams and aspirations?

Is how I am behaving moving me towards or away from my dreams and aspirations?

Are the results of my actions moving me towards or away from my dreams and aspirations.

Think about this and see what you need to change to get back on track towards those dreams

So get out of the fishbowl and live!

Message From God

To: YOU
Date: TODAY
From: GOD
Subject: YOURSELF
Reference: LIFE

This is God. Today I will be handling All of your problems for you. I do Not need your help. So, have a nice day.
I love you.

P.S. And, remember…
If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do Not attempt to resolve it yourself! Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. I will get to it in MY TIME. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic, don’t despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work; think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance; think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new grey hair in the mirror; think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had the hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what is my purpose? Be thankful. There are those who didn’t live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them!

Should you decide to send this to a friend; Thank you. You may have touched their life in ways you will never know!
Now, you have a nice day…God

The Two You’s

We  have been told clarity is the key to fulfilling our desires and goals.

when we think of who we are today and who we can be tomorrow  we have to think of two different people

Someone once said to get something different you have to become someone different. So how do we bring the two together?

1. Being absolutely clear about who we are and what we want

2. Focusing on helping others

3. Aligning our thoughts with our feelings, our behaviours and our actions

4. Acting on our desires even if we are afraid.

5. Getting it going even if its not yet perfect.

6. Taking personal responsibility for everything in our lives.

7. Having the right positive and enthusiastic attitude

kods jumping for JoyThe bad news is, we usually do not use the tools we are blessed with in the right manner. When doubt and fear show up we go into a lower version of ourselves.

The only way to bring the two different people closer together is working only on the highest and best versions of ourselves  through our thoughts , feelings and actions. Implementing them 24/7, so that the obstacles become speed bumps and not mountains.

If we work on this every day. we will be better at it today than we were yesterday, and we know we will be even better tomorrow.  The more dedicated we are to using the “tools” everyday, the closer we get to realizing and manifesting our true potential.

Here is this week’s “to-do list” :

Memorize the list above and check in with yourself throughout the day.

Are your actions aligned with the thoughts you think, the words you speak and the things you do?

I am working on mine, hope youre working on yours too

 YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

Don't tell me your age; you'd probably lie anyway-but the Hershey Man will know!

 YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

This is pretty neat.
DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!
It takes less than a minute …
Work this out as you read …
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 — I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1760 ..
 If you haven't, add 1759..

6… Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2010) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

IMAGINE!

I had a good day today. Not because I saw many patients. Not because I felt good about helping others. There was more. After our Toastmasters executive meeting , we decided to go for fresh grilled Fish at a place called Calliaqua. We arrived, bought our fish and settled to eat outside John Dougan's shop. They had karaoke music playing. My friends and I sat back to enjoy the meal and watch the singers do their thing. One song caught my attention. It was John Lennons "Imagine".
The words kept ringing in my ear. I had heard the song so many times before, but this time it just spoke to me:

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

We are living in a world that is more aware than ever before. These words ring truer today than back then when John Lennon wrote them. If we were just to look inside we would find that all our so called problems are merely a reflection of what is going on within us. By steadfastly attaching ourselves to outcomes we create new problems for ourselves and the rest of the world.
Please feel free to comment on this post. How does this way of thinking affect you?.
