How Clear is Your Vision?
Visualisation is an invaluable skill to develop to enhance success and achievement. Why? Because almost every human achievement and creation throughout history was first enacted or created in the mind of a man or woman. A clear vision of exactly what you actually want is an essential step for any person serious about bringing their dreams to reality.
The more clearly you can see yourself having achieved your goals and enjoying the rewards, the more it is going to motivate you to make the plans and take the actions necessary to achieve your goals.
It’s also important not to be vague about what it is you desire, you must fill in as much detail as possible.
For example, if you decide you want an expensive sports car, to just keep telling yourself you want a sports car is of little or no use. You need to decide the make, model, colour, and all the features you want your new car to include. You also need add emotion – see yourself driving this car, smell the upholstery and feel the pleasure and excitement of owning the car, and the sense of pride and satisfaction of having achieved what you set out to do.
If you want to buy or build your dream home, you need to have a clear vision of exactly what your home will look like, the floor plan, how many rooms it will have, how each room will be decorated, how the grounds will be laid out, where it will be located, and so on.
Also think about why you want whatever it is that you want, as the stronger your reasons, the more motivated you will be, and the more effective your visualization will be.
If you desire material possessions, it doesn’t matter if you can’t currently go close to affording them. In the case of character traits or skills, it doesn’t matter how far you are now from where you want to be. The important thing is to first establish exactly what you desire in detail, and having powerful enough reasons for wanting it.
Time should then be regularly dedicated to visualising your dreams and goals as if they are already achieved. By doing this you are priming your subconscious mind to move you towards your goals.
This may sound like a bit ‘pie in the sky’, but this a proven technique. The latest brain research also confirms this is much more than mere daydreaming.
Without getting too technical, our subconscious mind is by far the most powerful part of our brain, It effectively operates our bodies and our internal organs, and allows us to carry out simple daily actions, like walking, talking or driving, and everything else we do, without even having to think.
It also records virtually everything that ever happens to us, including many things we aren’t even consciously aware of, and provides us with our intuition, our hunches and the inner voices that guide our actions. It thinks creatively and spontaneously, rather than logically and analytically.
This is why, perhaps most importantly of all, it accepts everything that our conscious mind presents to it as reality, and it will then go to work to create this reality. This is a simple explanation why, as has been said countless times by countless people – that we actually achieve, become and experience, what we spend most time thinking about.
Brain research also indicates that our brains are naturally action orientated and think in positives. This means for example, if you tell a child ‘don’t spill the milk’ you actually increase, rather than reduce, the chances of the child spilling the milk, as the subconscious mind only registers ’spill the milk’.
Therefore, if you spend time hoping that the worst won’t happen, or constantly think about your problems, you are as good as encouraging the exact outcome you don’t want, or asking for more problems. On the other hand, if you actively focus on solutions and the outcomes you want to achieve, and optimistically expect the best, you automatically move in the direction of your goals.
To really get moving towards you goals, work at building up as detailed pictures as possible, and add emotional intensity by seeing yourself having achieved your goals, and enjoying the feelings that these achievements bring.
Work at visualising, and really seeing these pictures regularly, as repetition is necessary to ensure any old negative images are replaced. Try to clear your mind of any other thoughts first. When you are drifting off to sleep, or as you are waking in the morning, tend to be good times for many people, as the mind tends to be more receptive when not fully awake. Visualisation can also work very well when combined with meditation techniques. Experiment to find what works best for you.
This makes your subconscious, creative mind go to work motivating and guiding you to make the plans, break your goals down into manageable chunks, and take the necessary actions. It will also connect you to inexplicable forces that will assist you, and help to create the circumstance to ensure you achieve your goals.
If you make the effort to regularly focus on and visualise your goals, no matter what worries or problems you are facing, you will eventually find you are thinking about them most of the time, and that you become a more positive, optimistic, happy and successful person.
“You must see your goals clearly and specifically before you can set out for them. Hold them in your mind until they become second nature.” – Les Brown

Attraction Secret Uncovered – What Reality Do you Live In?
In your journey of life you will talk to hundreds, possibly thousands, of people. Each one of those people has their own ideas of who you are. Many times these people will voice their opinion to you. Sometimes you will like what you hear and at other times you will hate or even despise what they say.
Because there will always be people saying things to you, you have to know for yourself what it is that you are supposed to do on this earth. You have to know what you want and who you are. If you don’t, people will create your reality for you. Then, because you believe what everyone else says, you will begin to attract those things into your life and before you know it you will be living a life that other people have created for you.
Les Brown once said, ‘Other people’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.’ You see, you have to know what it is that you want in life and where you are going so that you can create your own reality. By doing this, you will be able to attract the things that you want in life, not what other people are projecting on you.
If you don’t like the reality that you are currently living in, then you need to do two things. First, find out if you are allowing other people to dictate your reality for you. If you are, then stop listening to what people are saying and begin to create your own reality.
Second, if people’s opinions aren’t the problem, then you need to begin to change what you are currently doing in your life. You will attract what you believe through your words and actions. So, begin to change what you say and change what you do day in and day out. Once you do this, you will begin to create the reality that you truly desire.

Great Success Tip: There is No Security—so be Bold and Dare!
According to James F. Byrnes, “Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity.” I absolutely agree with him.
The proverb “Seize the day (moment)” was coined by the Roman poet Horace (circa 20 B.C.) who wrote in The Odes: “Carpe Diem, quam minimum credula postero.” (“Seize the day, put no trust in the morrow.”) Now it’s used more often in the sense “take charge” … take advantage of the opportunity … don’t procrastinate … DO ‘IT’ NOW!
What IT? Well ‘IT’ could be putting together your network, firing your boss and starting a home-based business, building a huge MLM downline, or going all out in terms of marketing yourself. Or improving your communication skills, working on your sense of humor, celebrating your relationship with yourself and/or your ’significant other’.
Or ‘IT’ could be any of the ideas, plans, projects you are currently working on, or contemplating starting. Like renovating the house, expanding the garden, learning how to parachute jump, completing a master’s degree, writing a book or a play, taking a sabbatical to travel around the world, retiring so you can build that sailboat or do some volunteer work … Whatever ‘IT’ is, I want to encourage you to go ahead and follow the advice of the Nike® people: JUST DO IT!
Work at ‘IT’ boldly, daringly, and DO ‘IT’!
One of the problems that’s been plaguing society since the dawn of civilization (and it’s a biggie) is that there are a LOT of people out therenot you of course, but I’m sure you know somewho are not crazy about ‘working’ to improve their circumstances, who prefer to sit and ‘wish’ things were different, better … “It is useless to indulge in wishful thinking” is the message of the following two old proverbs: “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride”, and “If a pig had wings, it could fly.”
Wise observations. So is this more modern one by Alexander Woolcott: “Too many people spend half their time wishing for things they could have IF they didn’t spend half their time wishing.”
Coming back to the title of this article, another big problem these days is the illusion of ’security’. Helen Kellerwho had all the reasons in the world to ’stay put’ and ‘fly low’made this apropos observation: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing … Security is mostly a superstition. [A MYTH!!!] It does not exist in nature.”
I recently heard a speaker share this with her audience in an attempt to urge them not to settle for their lot in life:
“It’s only the view from where you sit that makes you feel defeat.
Life is full, with many aisles, so why don’t you change your seat?”
I think that’s a good start … if you absolutely, decidedly want to watch the ‘happening’ from one of the seats. But why not come down ‘on the field’ instead and experience life firsthand? Here are some of Les Brown’s (adapted) words on this topic (from one of his ‘kick-ass’ seminars):
“Here’s a quiet secret most people don’t know, or think about: You can’t get out of life alive. Hello! You can die in the bleachers (as a life ’spectator’) or you can die on the field (as a life ‘participant’). But you won’t get out of this stadium called ‘LIFE’ alive. So you might as well come down on the field and have some fun while you’re here!”
Have fun, take risks, seize opportunities, be bold, dare to live … to the max! MAKE YOUR LIFE AN ADVENTURE. It was G.K. Chesterton who said: “Adventure is the Champagne of life.” To which author and speaker emeritus Sam Horn added, “Drink up!”
In his best seller What Color Is Your Parachute, Richard N. Bolles wrote “One of the saddest lines in the world is, ‘Oh come nowbe realistic.’” I agree with Mr. Bolles, and history is our witness. The best parts of this world were fashioned by those who DARED to look hard at their wishes and gave them horses to ride.
I want to close* with two recommendationsthings I practice myself daily (I don’t subscribe to the idea of ‘Do as I say, not as I do…’):
ONE: ASK MORE FROM LIFE!
Have you ever noticed how people at an all-you-can-eat buffet will fill their plates until they overflow? Even though they can go back as often as they want. And yet, in the case of life, where they have only one crack at it, they go to the ‘table’ with a pillbox for food and a thimble for drinks.
Philosopher Jim Rohn likes to point out that “Life is like the oceanthere’s plenty. Success is NOT in short supply. It isn’t rationed so that when your turn comes they already gave it all away. The problem is that most people go to this ocean of opportunity with a teaspoon. In view of the size of the ocean, may I suggest that you trade in your teaspoon for something bigger?”
I like Jim’s ‘ocean’ analogy. Here’s another one of mine. Why not think of LIFE as a BIG tree, full of all kinds of fruitopportunitiesfree for the picking. All you have to do is show up, pick and carry. But you can only make one trip. My question to you is, “How will you do it? Will you show up with a basket or perhaps a wheelbarrowlike the 97% of the people who settle for ‘good enough’? Or will you back up an eighteen wheeler equipped with a cherry-picker and load it to capacity?”
TWO: CHALLENGE YOURSELF!
As someone once pointed out, “If the going gets easy, you may be going downhill.” You’re only going to make one trip on this road called Life; do you want it to be ‘downhill?
Be bold. Dare. Find a challenging task to accomplish, something big to achieve. It’s been done before. YOU can do it!if you keep in front of you this piece of advice from H. Jackson Brown:
“When facing a difficult task, act as though it is impossible to fail.
If you’re going after Moby Dick, take along the Tartar sauce.’
